Weggeflogen sind sie nicht
Sie fragen mich nach dem wichtigsten kulturellen und gesellschaftlichen Ereignis des Jahres? Warum sollten diese beiden Ereignisse getrennt sein? Sind nicht Kultur und Gesellschaft untrennbar, ja unzertrennlich, wie Kunst und Gesellschaft auf ewig getrennt sind?
Für mich war das wichtigste kulturelle und zugleich wichtigste gesellschaftliche
Ereignis des Jahres der Besuch, den ich alljährlich meiner Freundin, der Schnee-Eule, im hiesigen Zoo abstatte.
Was mich zu ihr treibt, sozusagen an ihren Hof-denn sie empfängt nicht immer und noch lange nicht jedermann- was mich zu ihr treibt: Sie ist so schön, so rein, so wild und klug. Auch kühn ist sie, wenn sie auch im Augenblick von ihrer Kühnheit nicht viel Gebrauch machen kann: Was man als ihr Existenzminimum errechnet hat, bekommt sie ans Gitter gebracht.
Nun, worüber unterhalten sich Schriftsteller mit Schnee-Eulen? Natürlich über das nie zu erschöpfende Thema Form und Inhalt. In diesem Jahr war unser Gesprächsthema Form und Inhalt der Freiheit.
lch fragte die Schnee-Eule, ob man auch ihr, wie vielen Pelikanen und Kondoren, ein Freigehege angeboten habe. Sie sagte ja: das habe man, aber sie habe abgelehnt, sie zöge den Käfig vor.
lch schwieg betroffen, kam mir wie so oft schon, wenn ich mit dieser reinen, schönen, klugen, wilden Freundin mich unterhalte - ich kam mir sehr dumm vor.
Hast du denn nicht gesehen, fragte sie mich, was mit den Pelikanen und Kondoren los ist ? Doch, sagte ich, ich sah, wie sie ihre herrlichen Flügel spreizten und schwangen, ihre majestätische Pracht ausbreiteten.
Und hast du, fragte meine Freundin, die Schnee-Eule, hast du denn gesehen, daß sie davongeflogen sind? Nein, sagte ich, weggeflogen sind sie nicht.
Und warum nicht, mein törichter Freund ?, sagte die Schnee-Eule, weil sie ihre Flügel schwingen und drehen, ihre ganze Pracht ausbreiten, aber nicht wegfliegen können: man hat ihnen die Schwungfedern gestutzt.
Deshalb ziehe ich es vor, im Käfig zu bleiben.
Freigehege bedeutet: keine Gitter, aber gestutzte Flügel, Käfig bedeutet: Gitter,aber ungestutzte Flügel.
Wegfliegen können sie sowenig wie ich.

Flying in formation, the objects disappear from the viewer's viewpoint. The forms are only indicated and can be seen in the shape of an outline. The unmixed colored icing on the retina of the beholder closes only at a distance.
As the note is an abstract sign for an acoustic sound, the image point on the screen becomes a sign of a visual stimulus. The eye reads the characters as colors and surfaces and constructs its sense impression.
The eye becomes a deciphering machine.
... and the Concorde is already history!

I decided to paint this Picture of a Fighter Pilot on a training Mission airborne in a jet trainer. The point of view looking at the pilot at work with another fighter in the background was very fascinating to me. Hopefully i could capture the Pilot looking very concentrated and focused but still enjoying the panorama view from the cockpit.
